NSN now offers a half-day Universal Pre-Kindergarten program as part of our Cooperative Nursery School!

Universal Pre-kindergarten (UPK) is a program established by the New York State Education Department and the local school districts to provide a preschool experience for the children of eligible families. Applications are accepted for children who will be four years old by December 1st of the current school year.

This is a preschool program with a NYS certified teacher and an assistant in every class. Children will attend the program Monday through Friday for 2½ hours each day.

For detailed information about UPK and how to apply, please visit the Child Care Resources of Rockland Incorporated website at

The NSN UPK is based on the Bank Street College Philosophy of Early Childhood Education. Within a safe and nurturing co-op environment our children learn through play. Parents get to participate in their children's learning first-hand while becoming part of, and learning from, a supportive community of parents and teachers. Parent participation in the classroom is required, on a rotating basis, approximately 3 - 4 times a school year.
